Travel to the UK
The UK is an island lying off the western coast of Europe, comprising the main territory of the United Kingdom, and as such benefits from many points of arrival. With over twenty airports, twenty ferry ports and a tunnel under the sea, Britain is only two hours away from mainland Europe and is easily accessible from every continent in the world!
Travel around the UK
With an abundance of domestic flights, trains, buses, coaches, trams and tubes, travelling around the UK is relatively easy. Roughly the size of Oregon or Colorado, or twice the size of New York State, you can fly from one end of Britain to the other in just under two hours!
Driving in the UK
If you have a Driving Licence issued in another country you can drive a car in the UK. All drivers must comply with British minimum age requirements of 17 years for cars and motorcycles, 18 years for medium sized vehicles and 21 years for large lorries and buses.
Travelling in London
The London Underground, or 'the Tube', is normally the quickest and easiest way of getting around London. Trains generally run between 5am and 12 midnight, Monday to Saturday, with reduced hours on Sunday. London buses are also a great way to travel with the added bonus of plenty of sightseeing opportunities en route.
Travel to Europe
Flying short haul (a short-haul domestic flight is commonly categorised as being no longer than 500 miles or under 1.5 hours in length) from the United Kingdom to various destinations in Europe is easy and cheap. For example you can fly to Ireland from the UK for as little as £10 and over to Barcelona, Naples and Amsterdam for as little as £70 (depending on promotional offers). Airline companies such as Easyjet, Flybe, Monarch and Ryanair, have made travelling to the continent accessible.
