Entrance clearance
To work in the UK, you need to have an appropriate visa or passport.
The UK has an award winning online visa application facility which makes it possible for applicants in many countries to apply for a UK visa or entry clearance online using a secure internet connection. Some countries also accept payment of visa fees online.
While our professional advisors are on hand to help make the process as stress-free and easy as possible for you The Official British Government website for Visa Services will guide you through the visa application process step by step.
British passport
A British passport entitles you to work in the UK and to come and go as you please. Holding your own passport means that there is no age related restrictions. If your father was born in the UK this entitles you to a British passport.
EU (European Union) passport
The European Union (EU) consists of 27 individual countries. Citizens of the European union with a EU passport can freely travel and live without any problems in any EU country. However depending on the European Economic Area some workers must register on the Worker Registration Scheme (WRS) and should apply to register with the Home Office as soon as they begin working in the UK.

You will also need to make contact with your nearest Visa Application Centre, which is managed by UK embassies, high commissions and consulates and through visa application centres run by VFS Global and WorldBridge.
The length of time it takes to process a visa application depends on the procedure at one of these Visa application centres so it is particularly important to keep in contact with them. Applicants are now also required to provide a fingerprint scan and have a digital photograph taken when making an application for entry clearance, even if the initial application is submitted online or by post. The process takes only a few moments and should not delay the decision on your application.
